Covid-19 Response:
This season Pikes Peak Alpine School is choosing to run our AIARE courses in small groups (6:1 student to instructor ratios) on off-peak days (field days on weekdays or Sundays and Mondays) to enhance the learning experience and safety of our students while minimizing our impact on busy trailheads and in the backcountry. We are also practicing social distancing by using on-line learning modules and Zoom-style meetings to help keep all of us healthy in the age of COVID-19.

Pikes Peak Alpine School has provided avalanche training in the Colorado since 1989. Our guides are AIARE Instructors and AMGA Apprentice Ski Guides at a minimum and all have the passion and credentials for teaching.

Included:  Student Resources, use of Ortovox transceiver, probe and shovel.
Not Included: Transportation, accommodations, food, and guide gratuity.
Required gear: Alpine Touring Ski/Splitboard setup. Full winter backcountry gear. See our gear list on this page.
Prerequisites: Students must be able to travel in avalanche terrain and bring appropriate equipment for traveling on snow.  AIARE 1 and Avalanche Rescue have other no prerequisites and either can be taken first or without the other.
