Course Details

Location: The Mountaineers Baker Lodge, WA

General:
This course will be based out of the Mountaineers Lodge near Mt. Baker Ski Area. The lodge’s classroom is proximal to field locations at the ski area and the surrounding backcountry. This is a time-intensive course and long days are expected. The field travel for this program takes place on skis/splitboard; students must be able to safely travel downhill on skis/board through variable backcountry conditions. Students must also be able to travel uphill at a moderate pace using skins.

Lodging and Food:
Lodging is included in your tuition starting the night before the course and ending on the last day. Accommodations are bunk style and separated into dormitories. A large gear room on the first floor has plenty of room for equipment. Breakfast and dinner are provided starting on the first day of the course and ending with breakfast on the last day. Participants are required to provide their own lunches and snacks. A communal kitchen is open to all. Pantry is located in the gear room and cold storage is limited. There are no services or stores nearby and students should pack in all provisions.
