Biography:

Originally a nordic skier and biathlete from Anchorage, Alaska, she now makes Valdez home with husband Peter, and sons, Chance Stellan and Cirque Canyon. Sarah has been involved in the avalanche field since 1997: ski patrolling in British Columbia and Alaska, guiding and snow safety director for a heli-ski operation, and coordinating avalanche education for the Alaska Avalanche Information Center. She is happy to have climbed the two highest peaks on the continent in a single season and has found a new challenge in sailing.

Sarah has been involved with snow science research with the University of Alaska Southeast and has presented three posters at the International Snow Science Workshop. She coordinates avalanche education for AAIC and loves to be in the snow.
