Join the High Country’s favorite backcountry guide service and avalanche course provider for a 3-day AIARE Level 2 Avalanche Safety Course. The AIARE 2 provides backcountry travelers an opportunity to advance their decision making skills in more complicated situations such as being a leader within a small group, traveling in more complicated terrain, and/or developing a travel plan where online resources are scarce. The AIARE 2 builds on the introductory avalanche hazard management model introduced in the AIARE 1 and adds to it the evaluation of critical hazard assessment factors. Students will describe and discuss weather, snowpack, and avalanche processes, and identify how these processes relate to observations and travel within avalanche terrain. We utilize our Breckenridge classroom and field locations within a 30 mile driving radius. Our classroom is located inside the newly renovated, adventure-themed Gravity Haus Hotel in downtown Breck. Take advantage of special room discounts for avalanche course students! Students will receive an AIARE field book, course manual, certificate of completion, discounts on future courses, and a bag of goodies from our awesome partners, including Ortovox and Ascent Coffee Roasters.
