One 2-hour classroom session on a weeknight in Lakewood (CCU's new Leprino Hall, School of Business and Leadership, 8787 W. Alameda Ave, Lakewood, CO) will set the groundwork for our field days. Three days of field work with long excursions to practice companion rescue skills, look at avalanche terrain, practice route planning, and learn about snow.
The AIARE Level 1 course is a 3 day/24 hour introduction to avalanche hazard management.
Instructional sessions are 40% Classroom and 60% Field Work. This is the leading introductory course for Decision Making in Avalanche Terrain. We keep class sizes and field sessions small so that you can learn from qualified professionals.
